billionaires against universal basic income

states are beginning to experiment with the idea of universal basic income, a small amount of money that all citizens would receive each month to help lift them economically and cover periods when they would otherwise be devastated, such as the result of unpaid medical bills due to low or no insurance, etc.

as you can probably guess, there is a group of billionaires that are fighting this tooth and nail, paying politicians to write bills to outlaw even trying it.

what does the government know about you?

it's probably no secret to you that you're being watched. cctv cameras are everywhere, you use cards to shop and probably do a fair amount of that shopping online, plus social media, blah blah blah...

who cares, right?

but the feds are watching you, too. and while that may or may not creep you out as much while your particular party of choice is in power, what about when they're not?

it's against the law to be homeless

as the american middle class disappears, jobs that pay enough to cover basic necessities are shipped overseas or split into part-time positions to avoid providing healthcare and other benefits, and mortgages continue the relentless tide of foreclosure, an increading number of people are homeless, literally living out of their cars.

and now cities are making even that illegal.
